Today, I remembered the week before Christmas. Sunday, December 18th. Waiting at the Paris station, years ago, for a promise made 6 months earlier in Vienna. The people around me coming from the fair, the flowers given, the drinks shared, the sweet moments together... The little things. We had so many plans too. We talked about so many things in such a short time. And we still said too little. You gave me all that you were, I gave you all that was left of me. A toddler cries on a bench to my right, his hands touching a cup of hot cocoa for the first time. I am cold too. My hands are chapped and yours are absent. I put on sunscreen in memory of better days. Maybe next year.
