THE PAST SUDDENLY MAKES AN APPEARANCE ON THE STAGE OF THE PRESENT.
The flashback is a highly expressive and desirable material. We would like this face, away from digital smoothing, to be ours; inhabited by serene thoughts, rid of the stigmas of digital cosmetics, animated by the joy of pixels desired by the artist. It captures a suspended moment, this zone of memory deeply embedded in the retina. And brings to life a distant memory, perhaps a déjà vu: that of a face, a body, an emotion turned into presence.
