CHIESA D'ORO - FILIPPO SORCINELLI

Inspired by the drawers of the sacristy of the Basilica of Saint Mark in Venice.

Scents almost oriental, reminiscent of spices (from the Latin « species », special and precious merchandise) that arrived by sea in the lagoon city. In Venice, spice merchants experimented with these ingredients, mixing them, measuring them, then selling them in small packages called “Venetian bags.” From then on, Venice and the whole world could no longer do without spices, used not only to season dishes but also to enrich with solemnity and preciousness the rites celebrated inside its cathedral, adorned with golden mosaics.
