RELIGVIA - FILIPPO SORCINELLI

I leave what remains…

Relique is a term derived from Latin and means "I leave."

The Latin word "reliquiae" and the Greek word "λείψανα" are similar; their general meaning is "what remains," and the expression refers to the human body or one of its parts.

With this word, in the Christian context, we refer to a part of the body of Christ or an object belonging to Christ, or to the Mother of Christ or the mortal remains of those who are recognized as martyrs or saints and, in general, to all objects that have been in contact with them.

Le nouveau parfum de Filippo Sorcinelli, after his tribute to Mario Giacomelli with "io_non_ho_mani_che_mi_accarezzino_il_volto » , returns to Senigallia to describe a simply extraordinary place, rich in history and works of art, but above all the guardian of important relics of the Passion of Christ: the église de la Croix,  considérée comme l'un des joyaux du baroque italien. This oratory, dating from 1608, was built by the will of the Brotherhood of the Sacrament and the Cross, still active today, of which Filippo is a member with specific roles as organist and artistic director.

Reliqvia talks about walls covered with gilded wood, finely decorated with carvings and reliefs, that speak of fiery steps towards the great high altar, like a golden embroidery, inside which is kept the statue of the dead Christ, a 17th-century wooden work visible only once a year.

He also wishes to frame the altarpiece in a concise manner of Federico Barocci , The Transport of Christ to the Tomb, one of the most beautiful works by the painter from Urbino, created in 1582, for which he also designed the frame. Reliqvia is a place of gathering and reflection, a place to remember the passing time that becomes precious and authentic, a message of corruptibility and incorruptibility.

Reliqvia is the concrete trace, the ultimate trace, to describe a living existence above us, different and prodigious. It is the always closed closet, the precious guard of the saints that makes us understand that time is precious and that it risks being consumed without leaving a clear trace in life.

Reliqvia is the highlight of Passion, layered incense and torbato from the solemn and sacred years.

There is no sacred, if men do not recognize it as such, and do not exalt it in perfect rites.

Reliqvia is the perfect sacred space.

Touching relics, touching something that has been in contact with them, is a grace and a guarantee: that is why the Romans of Antiquity tore the veils that covered the holy martyrs and in which the bodies of the pontiffs were wrapped. That is why the pontiffs were wrapped in these veils. Before the relics, the mentally ill were healed, the possessed and obsessed were freed, the blind regained their sight, the lame walked again.
