Mansa Musa, ruler of the Mali Empire in the 13th century, is considered the richest man in history. He was also known for his generosity, sharing a large part of his fortune with his people. “Mansa” means “king” or “ruler” in Maninka. The gold staff symbolizes wealth and generosity.
